Qualifications of Thomas L. Hathaway

Thomas L. Hathaway is an entrepreneur and current owner of two businesses. A residential construction business, including real estate investing and an online solar-power products business.

Thomas graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a Mining Engineering Degree. The Colorado School of Mines is one of the world's foremost universities for earth, energy, and environmental science and engineering. He worked as a project engineer during the 1980's for both the Western Museum of Mining and Industry and the Johns Manville Corporation. While living in Tucson, Arizona he developed an appreciation of the power of the sun through his study of passive solar home construction. In the 1990's Thomas worked for the Johns Manville Corporation primarily as an environmental engineer. Johns Manville is a leading manufacturer of premium-quality building insulation, roofing and specialty products. While at Manville, Thomas completed extensive coursework in all aspects of environmental engineering with emphasis on compliance, auditing, and air quality emissions and permitting. Thomas also completed graduate level coursework in environmental studies from the Colorado School of Mines. He left Johns Manville in 1997 as an environmental manager for one of their largest manufacturing divisions.

In 1997 Thomas started a residential construction business, Adobe Construction. The business' main focus is on residential remodeling and construction projects both for clients and for property that is personally owned. In 1999 he obtained his contractors license from the City and County of Denver. While operating his construction business, he purchased rental and investment properties utilizing his skills to remodel and improve these properties for eventual sale. A continuous emphasis was placed on retrofitting these properties with energy efficient upgrades.

In 2005 Thomas Hathaway completed an extensive six week training course on the design and installation of photovoltaics from Solar Energy International. He started a photovoltaic sales and installation business called Solar Home and RV. One of the primary purposes of this business is educating the public about renewable energy products.
